I just finished reading Julie Klausner’s incredibly funny book….
“I Don’t Care About Your Band: What I Learned from Indie Rockers, Trust Funders, Pornographers, Felons, Faux-Sensitive Hipsters, and Other Guys I’ve Dated.”
The title really says it all. I Loved it. I couldn’t put it down. It’s a voyeuristic view of the New York dating scene in the 2000’s. My jaw was agape as I read about Julie’s exploits with a Brooklyn based Star Wars Hermit who had Herpes and a Adult Film producer that gave the gift of a vibrator on the first date (and those aren’t even the craziest ones). Julie’s writes in such a unique voice that it feels as if you are hearing all these funny stories for the first time by an old friend. I didn’t want it to end. I just want her to keep dating losers - so we can get a sequel.
Take note of one of the chapters where Julie explains learning sexual politics from an episode of Night Court and the relationships on the Muppet Show.
But don’t just take my word for it. Read it yourself.
